Bath Exhibition

22nd to 27th September 2026

Tiny Claws, thundering hooves, skulls and stardust 22nd to the 27th of September 2026

44AD Artspace, Bath

As summer began to turn into autumn 2025, I grew restless in thinking that I had achieved quite a body of new work. Mainly this consisted of Collage cut-up artworks, but also I was drawing, closer to finishing a ten year stint making a stop motion , animated film and this was something I wanted to show and to choose a place to give its debut. 2015 was the last time I had an Exhibition with my friend , Charlotte Rogers at the Walcott chapel in Bath, a beautiful city of which Charlotte is a local and the last time I had spent there I had immensely enjoyed the whole experiance. Charlottes work as an Animist Artist working with sculpture is exceptional and she creates an Aura of magic and mystery throughout the pieces , not just the final visual image which is stunning , but through the works layers and textures her work conveys. So last year I asked Charlotte if she would consider displaying are works together once more and thankfully she agreed helping and working tirelessly to make this happen. After my partner Wendy helped in the transport department we unloaded are work on the Sunday evening The plan was to jointly exhibit, and on the Saturday evening to give talks by us both on are practices and the ideas which had began my work on ‘‘ Down to Spinny” my animated film which would then be shown to the gallery, s attendants on the Saturday evening.

Monday the 21st we spent hanging and displaying the work for the Tuesday mornings opening. We met, chatted and traded to the public which consisted of locals, Art lovers, Artists, Musicians, Pagans, Rockers, Faerie fans, goth, students and all and everyone in between.

We had many great conversations and merry meetings with all who attended. When there was a gap of visitors we spoke continuessley about all that had been sources of knowledge and entertaining, from books by China Melville and Alister Grey then onto David Lynch and films by Yorgos Lathimos and all things magical.

Saturday evening came around and with, great help and guidance from the gallerys own Arren Hodgeson helped me locate the in-house projector and we gave the film a test run in the 44ad,s basement room. Seeing it run gave me a a rush of energy and excitement as the scenes played out on a much larger screen, it felt like somebody else had made it and being the viewer felt mildly disorientating in being so un use to seeing it on this scale, the sound was immense and epic hearing it through the in house sound system took my breath away. Stareing at the monitor screen on a Mac computer at frame after frame for a number of years, then editing and transferring everything into Wendy,s adobe premiere programme reworking, then more editing had taken a great deal of time, even though a short it had been a long process.

So seeing it actually felt quite emotional for me. Charlotte gave her talk and then I gave mine on the films story and the techniques and which influences had shaped it on reflection though I think my talk may have been quite short but as I had pointed out earlier whenever we had spare time we ended up distracting each other with continuess conversation when we probably should have been writing more!.

Although for my main aim I felt completely satisfied in that the film was well received on its debut screening, reviews from the attendees told me they felt entranced also that it felt deeply, psychedelic , the only criticism came from my friend Cosmo who said that his only problem was it didn’t go on for long enough, which I could live with, although my favriote review came from the artist Richard pinhorn who said it was like watching, ‘‘ Folklore vs Facism’’ which I thought absolutely nailed it.

A massive thank you from goes out to Wendy, Charlotte, Jo Crosse, Arren Hodgeson , Katy o,brian, Yvonne young, Grace , v23, Andrea and all at the 44ad who looked after us and were positive, helpfull and more than encourageing, Bless you all.

I am absolutely thrilled to be joining animist, artist and author Charlotte Rodgers at the 4ADD Artspace from 22nd to 27th of September. Charlotte will be showing her highly detailed, intricate sculptures and I will be showing original artwork, collages, paintings and pen and ink drawings.

We will both be giving talks about are practices and are influences on the Saturday evening of the 26th and the premiere showing of my stop motion short “Down to Spinny” at 7pm will close proceedings.
